1. The Word of God

Doctrine #1  -  The Word of God

The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration through holy men of God who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to man the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the authoritative revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God's acts in history.

( 2 Peter 1:20, 21; - 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; - Psalm 119:105; -  Prov. 30:5, 6; -  Isaiah 8:20; -  John 17:17; - 1 Thess. 2:13; -  Hebrews 4:12 )

 2 Peter 1: 20, 21

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (21)   For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men of  God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3: 16, 17

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (17) That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

 Psalms 119: 105

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Proverbs 30: 5, 6

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (6) Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Isaiah 8: 20

To  the law and to the testimonies: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

John 17: 17

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

1 Thessalonians 2: 13

For this cause we thank God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectively worketh also in you that believe.

Hebrews 4: 12

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thought and intents of the heart.
