You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

"I have sinned, for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is this to us?" they replied. "That is your responsibility." So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. He went away and hanged himself. The priest picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money." So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners. That is why it has been called Field of Blood to this day. Then what was spoken by Jeremiah, the prophet, was fulfilled.

God specifically gave the prophecies detailing aspects of Christ's life in advance to reveal who Jesus really is. They are not meant simply to satisfy some intellectual curiosity. The prophet Isaiah even outlined parts of Jesus' ministry in advance. Isaiah wrote:
"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor and . . . to comfort all who mourn." It is important to note that many of the prophecies about Jesus were fulfilled in the last 24 hours of his life.
